Use the link for more details and to take part in the public consultation. Carers can phone or email our office if they need help to 'have your say'.

You need to live in one of these areas, be registered with the Carers Centre and caring for someone to qualify. Use the link for full details.

Turning vacant accommodation into vital breaks for unpaid carers
Carefree is a charity started in 2016 with the goal "for every full-time unpaid carer to have access to a short break". Carers must register directly with the charity to browse options then submit a request for a specific break at a hotel that has donated rooms. Use the link to visit the Carefree website which explains how it works and has feedback from carers about their short breaks.

New Sheffield Connect city centre bus service is launched
Sheffield City Council has launched a new bus service connecting 12 stops in and around the City Centre. The route and timetable could adapt as passenger numbers are monitored to assess how the service is working. The service will be free to people with a valid travel pass or £1 for those without a pass. Use the link for more information on the SheffNews website.

Would you like to talk to someone about the challenges of caring?
Carers UK offers a free Listening Service for unpaid carers to arrange phone calls with a friendly, trained caller who understands the challenges of caring and/or a chance for the carer to just have a chat. This service does not offer direct advice or counselling, but callers may signpost carers to other services. Use this link to the Carers UK website for details.

Stories from the pandemic. A lasting testimony from Sheffield
This is a new project that is part of Sheffield’s Covid-19 memorial tribute plans. Contributions, drawn from all walks of life, will form a lasting testimony and historical record of the pandemic’s impact. To ensure its rooted in the experiences of Sheffield people the organisers want to hear your story.
