    A snapshot of the experiences of over 13,000 unpaid carers in 2022 
    The 'State of Caring' report by Carers UK has the results of their research with over 13,000 current and former carers reporting on their experiences of caring in the last year. Use the link to view or download the report for a snapshot of carers’ experiences in 2022. It captures the impact that caring has on carers’ lives and provides evidence for ways to improve the situation.

    Join us at the Carers Christmas Café on Friday 9 December   
    Carers meet in-person at 10am on the second Friday of each month at the United Reformed Church in the City Centre, and via Zoom at 10am on the other Fridays of the month. Join us at the special Christmas Café on Friday 9 December, when there will be a Quiz, some Craft Activity plus a performance by the Carer Choir.     Free workshop on the topic of 'caring for someone with dementia'. 
    The aims of this free workshop are to help carers (1) better understand how living with dementia can affect behaviour (2) look for triggers that can affect behaviour (3) help the cared-for person live the best life they can. The event will be led by Kathryn Rawling from Sheffcare, a registered charity operating in Sheffield and serving the needs of over 1,000 older people.
     
    This year's Carers Rights Day is on Thursday 24 November 2022 
    The main aims of this annual campaign is to help carers (1) be aware of their rights (2) know where to get help and support and (3) raise awareness of the needs of carers.     Invitation to take part in this online 'Carers Questionnaire'
    This survey is part of a National Clinical Audit which aims to improve the quality of care that hospitals provide to people who have confusion or memory problems. Carers are invited to share views about the care the person with memory problems received and the communication they had with hospital staff during their admission to hospital (from Sept 2022 to Jan 2023).
     
    An invitation to join this steering group on disability inclusion  
    Disability Sheffield and Sheffield City Trust (SCT) are looking for disabled people to be part of a steering group to support more people with disabilities to get active at SCT leisure venues. They are looking for individuals interested in developing a better experience for disabled people using leisure services by offering critical feedback with practical solutions.
     
    The BBC offer some personalised tips to saving money

    The UK is being hit by rising costs. Food, energy, transport and housing are all going up rapidly in price. But the cost of living crisis is affecting people in different ways. As you answer some optional questions on this BBC webpage, it will personalise the article to explain why you're being affected, what help is available and offer tips on how to save money.

     
    An introduction to Sheffield's Direct Payment Support Service 
    Penderels Trust works with Sheffield City Council to deliver the direct payment support service to citizens who live in the city. They support adults and children in Sheffield who receive a direct payment to get the most out of their care money and to achieve their goals. Use the link for more details about their range of services, including videos and a downloadable guide.
     
    The Sheffield Christmas Trail returns to the city centre (26 Nov - 24 Dec)
    The Sheffield Christmas Trail is back for 2022 and features Brearley Bear who needs help to locate 8 missing reindeer. There’s the chance to visit Santa’s Study, a festive, family experience set in an enchanted forest. You can also enjoy the sounds of Christmas with festive harmonies from Christmas Crooners, Eccy and Totsy.
