Letters from Tim

16th July 2020

To all who belong to Banner Cross Church,

I am writing to you to express the thanks of the Church Council for your continuing generosity for your contribution to the life of the church. As you know, all that we do and are reflect something of God’s story in us and our community of faith.

During the lockdown we have been unable to express our community life in the usual ways, but have been able to ‘watch over one another in love’ by phone, or socially distanced visits with shopping etc.  We have also had the opportunity to worship in a variety of different ways.

Several people have asked how they might continue their financial giving in these times.   Many pay directly by a standing order through their bank, and this is the preferred method which is safe and automatic. Others use the envelope system, or by giving cash in the offertory bag in our services.  As we are currently unable to meet, the Church Council asked me to write to suggest the following ways in which you can make your contribution:

  1. You can contact your bank and ask to set up a standing order. You will need the bank details of the Church:

Sort Code        05-08-08

Account No     36854088

Account name             Banner Cross Methodist Church

  1. You can write a cheque and send it to Ian Runciman 50 Silverdale Road Sheffield S11 9JL

Please do not send any cash.

Please remember that if you are a tax payer the church can claim back 25% from the inland revenue on all your donations. Please contact Ian Runciman to do this.

This is also an opportunity for all of us to review our giving. We have lost all our rental income during the lockdown, and it is not clear whether this will all restart whenever we are able re-open the buildings.

If you would like to ask any question do please get in touch with me.

Peace

Tim
