Carers Trust report highlights some alarming statistics about carers 
The findings from a Carers Trust survey of 2,675 unpaid carers across the UK highlights how they have been pushed even further into financial problems by the cost-of-living crisis. This bulletin has links to lots of practical and helpful information
Sheffield City Council issued a bulletin this month with a comprehensive round up of the various support available to people living in Sheffield. The bulletin has some very useful links, including one to the Council's new 'cost of living' webpage plus other sections with more links to practical advice about 'money support' and 'community support' plus 'help with energy costs'.
 
FREE workshop on Moving and Handling for Carers (16 January)
The workshop will be led by Home Instead, which is a leading home care provider. They run events to share their knowledge with carers on topics such as (1) the theory of moving and handling (2) how to move people when sitting to standing (3) back care in relation to safe moving (4) the theory of using equipment and (5) seeking further support. FREE Sports and Games Social Afternoon for Carers (25 January)    
We’re working in partnership with Sheffield City Trust to offer carers a social afternoon of FREE sports and games at Ponds Forge Sports Centre on the fourth Friday of the month. A great chance to meet others, share experiences and have a break. Carers welcome to bring someone, but please have appropriate clothing and footwear. SCC or SCT staff will be on hand to help
 
Please help with this survey for Young and Young Adult Carers
The Carers Trust works to transform the lives of unpaid carers. The Carers Centre is part of their national network and we’re inviting our readers to take part in their latest survey of young carers (aged under 18) and young adult carers (25 and under). Use the link for full details of the survey that takes 10 mins to complete and the results will be reported on in March 2023.
 
Health & Social Care Community Involvement Newsletter (NEW)
This is a new quarterly newsletter that has been launched to provide opportunities for residents to get involved with helping to shape Sheffield City Council’s social care programme. Use the link to take a look at the first issue covering a wide range of topics. This includes an invite to 'Have your say on supported living, respite care and day opportunities'.

An invitation to the SHSC's monthly 'Open Door' meeting for carers
Sheffield Health & Social Care NHS Foundation Trust are developing an information and support group, which provides a safe space for all carers of people using SHSC services to openly discuss their experiences. These ‘Carers Open Door’ meetings will take place monthly at Sheffield Flourish and also online via Microsoft Teams. Use the link for more information and details.
