Reminder of webpage with lots of practical and useful information
The cost-of-living crisis is affecting everyone in some shape or form. A quick reminder that Sheffield City Council has a page on their website highlighting some of the local and national support available to help you manage the situation. The webpage has sections about Money Support, Food Support, Help with Energy Costs plus information on community help.

Do you know someone that would like to join our carer advisor team?
We are expanding our team of Carer Advisors and have two vacancies for people to become integral members of our Assessment and Advice Service. The role involves delivering high quality advice, information, and support to carers over the telephone and face to face. Use the link by the image for full details and to apply before the closing time 11.59pm Wednesday 22 March.

FREE workshop to help carers be aware about fraud and scams
The workshop will be led by Sheffield Trading Standards, who are responsible for making sure goods and services sold in the city meet the laws controlling accuracy, description, price, quality, quantity and safety. The aim is to help carers be aware of the warning signs if they think someone they are caring for, or someone they know, is vulnerable to scams or work by rogue traders.

FREE sports & games afternoon for carers at Ponds Forge (22 March)
We’re working in partnership with Sheffield City Trust to offer carers a social afternoon of free sports and games at Ponds Forge Sports Centre on the fourth Friday of the month. A great chance to meet others, share experiences and have a break. Carers are welcome to bring someone, but please wear suitable clothing and footwear. SCC or SCT staff will be on hand to help.

Introducing a new activity for carers at the SAGE allotment (13th April)
SAGE is a charity that runs the Greenfingers programme at their allotment (S4 8LE). You don't need to be interested in gardening to benefit from this chance for a break from caring and be out in the fresh air, enjoy peace and quiet, meet other carers and some of our team. Starting on 13th April the Carers Allotment Group will be meeting on the second Thursday of each month.

Spring into action with the Carers UK Active April campaign
‘Active April’ is a Carers UK campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of physical activity, provide opportunities and help for carers to be physically active. Carers will be supported and encouraged to take part in any activity that works for them, whether that's walking, jogging, yoga or simple exercises around the home and garden. Use the link to visit the Carers UK website.

Join in with this month's celebration of The Outdoor City
Sheffield is the city where nature and culture intertwine. So, every March the city celebrates the days getting longer and warmer by hosting the Festival of the Outdoors. There are a host of walking events on offer, from guided tours of listed buildings to exploring the city's suburbs and green spaces. Use the link for details of the full programme of events during the month.

A reminder that voter ID will be needed for local elections in May
The Elections Act 2022 has introduced a new requirement from 4 May 2023 for voters to show photo ID before voting in person at a polling station. Use the link to the Council website for details of what to do if you're registered to vote but don't hold one of the acceptable forms of photo ID; or how your proxy will need their own photo ID if they vote for you in a polling station.
