    Our thanks for all your support during a busy Carers Week 2022
    We're very grateful to everyone that supported this year's Carers Week from 6-12 June. It was certainly very busy, with lots of activities taking place to raise the profile of carers in Sheffield. The link goes to the special Carers Week page on our website as a reminder of the offers and events arranged for that week and we'll add updates of the results over the coming days.
     
    Sheffield City Trust is offering free activities for carers until 3rd July
    To celebrate Carers Week and help ‘Make Caring Visible and Valued’ Sheffield City Trust has launched a great initiative. Sheffield Carers Centre ‘Carer Card’ holders can access 8 free activities. This includes the gym, fitness classes, swimming pool sessions (leisure & lane) at all their venues. Use the link for details of this offer which is valid from 6th June to 3rd July. 
     
    Take a look at our range of activities and workshops for July
    Our 'Activity & Workshop' programme is designed to help carers share experiences and learn new skills. The activities can help with a break from caring and experts run workshops on topics to support carers, such as the 'Adapt and Recover from Adversity' event on 28 July. Use the link for details of all upcoming events for next month on the new page on our website.
     
    This online resource offers valuable and free support for carers
    This free online resource is provided by Carers UK and Sheffield City Council. It offers valuable, comprehensive and up-to-date information to support carers. Sections include Health and Wellbeing, Support for Caring, Technology and Caring, Financial Planning plus other topics. Use the link for more details on our website which also explains how to access this resource.
     
    New short video to help households save energy and money
    Nothern Powergrid is the organisation that manages the electricity network in our region. They have launched a new digital campaign with a short animation (one and a half minute video) to help customers save energy and money. It includes some simple and useful tips that can help make households more energy efficient and save money. Use the link to watch the video.
     
    Ofgem explains how to access extra help for high energy bills
    This page on the Ofgem website explains how to access extra help with the Priority Services Register. This is a free support service to help people in vulnerable situations. This webpage explains how to check if you’re eligible, how to register, the help you can get and other similar support services. Use the link below the image for the details on their website.
     
    New set of videos about dementia available in Urdu and Arabic

    Dementia Action Week (16-22 May 2022) is the Alzheimer's Society's biggest and longest running awareness campaign. It encourages people who are concerned that they or someone they know may be experiencing dementia symptoms to seek help. This set of videos in Urdu and Arabic are part of the campaign to increase awareness and explain how to access support.
     

     
    Free video-based support group for people with eating disorders
    Solace is a free video-based peer support from BEAT, the UK’s eating disorder charity. It gives people the chance to share how they are feeling and get support from others who are caring for people with eating disorders. Use the link for a leaflet on our website which includes details about the range of support offered and how to join one of the groups.
